Website Design
When the term "web design" is used, it is often misrepresented by referring to the "layout" of a website. The layout simply means how objects and text are placed on a page and more often than not, they are set into and from a template. This template is used over and over again for different websites with different images and content. In other words, there is no design as such and little originality or thought. There are many examples of this on the Internet today, you need only visit a number of "web designers'" portfolios to see that for yourself. Unfortunately for the unaware viewer, they are misled into believing their website will have a personal aspect to it, be original and have that special something that puts them ahead of their competitors. Be aware!
To "design" a website means being creative with pictures, clipart, frames or tables, colours, shapes and graphics. The finished product is specific to your business and done in such a way that it can not be duplicated. Some aspects of the website may be taken however the overall design can not. The design of a web site has to not only say something about the business it represents but create an image that is totally unique because your business is unique.
Important attributes of your website must include informative content (you want to maintain the viewers attention), fast loading pages (the average person waits no more than 5 seconds for a page to load - any longer than that and they have left), and navigation of the site must be easy (if people have to search around for information, they will soon become impatient and frustrated, eventually going somewhere else). If you already have a website you have to consider having it revamped, give it a "new" look, revitalise it and make it more aesthetically pleasing, informative and interesting.
Domain Name Registration
Before you start the website process, you will need to have a domain name registered with an accredited domain registrar. This domain name is then pointed to hosting space which controls the emails of your web address and also houses the website information. It makes more sense to have the domain name, hosting and website all with one business to alleviate having to contact a number of places should something need assistance.
